Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and protect your personal data, in line with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

This Privacy Policy explains how TutorMatchSG ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, discloses and safeguards personal data provided to us by parents, students and tutors. By using our website, submitting an enquiry form, or contacting us via WhatsApp, email or Telegram, you agree to the practices described below.

1. What personal data we collect

When you make an enquiry or communicate with us, we may collect:

  • Your name and contact number
  • Your email address (if provided)
  • The student's level, subject(s) and preferred timing
  • Location or general area for tuition (e.g. estate, MRT)
  • Any additional details you choose to share in your message

For tutors registering with us, we may additionally collect academic qualifications, teaching experience, identification for verification, and payment-related information for assignment payouts.

2. Why we collect it

  • To match parents and students with a suitable tutor
  • To respond to your enquiries and coordinate lesson arrangements
  • To verify tutor credentials and manage tuition assignments
  • To send service-related updates about your enquiry or assignment
  • To comply with legal or regulatory obligations in Singapore

3. How we use and share your data

We share the minimum necessary details (typically the student's level, subject, location and preferred timing) with prospective tutors solely for the purpose of arranging suitable tuition. Your direct contact details are only shared with a tutor once a match is confirmed and both parties agree to proceed.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data may be disclosed where required by law, court order, or a legitimate request from a Singapore government authority.

4. How long we keep your data

We retain enquiry data only as long as reasonably necessary to complete the match and provide follow-up support — typically up to 24 months from your last interaction with us. Tutor records are retained for as long as the tutor is active on our roster, and for a reasonable period afterwards for accounting and dispute-resolution purposes. After these periods, we will securely delete or anonymise your data.

5. How we protect your data

We apply reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. Access to enquiry and tutor records is restricted to authorised personnel who need it to run the matching service.

6. Your rights under the PDPA

You may, at any time:

  • Request access to the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or outdated personal data
  • Withdraw your consent for us to continue using your data
  • Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements

To make any of these requests, email us at tutormatchsgp@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe as required by the PDPA.

7. Cookies and website analytics

Our website may use basic cookies and privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These tools do not identify you personally. You can disable cookies via your browser settings at any time.

8. Third-party messaging platforms

When you contact us via WhatsApp or Telegram, your messages are also subject to those platforms' own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing them if you have concerns about how those services handle messaging data.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be posted on this page. Continued use of our services after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
